1) Increased pressure drop (be it from the design/excess tubing/etc) 2) Reduction in throttle response (a factor of #1) 3) Negates the cross-flow design of the plenum (some debate how negative this is, but we know most designs do it). 4) Most importantly, you're spending more money and more effort (rerouting everything) to get something that, if you're very lucky, will give you the same performance as quality side mounts.The above is a generalization of what most on the market bring to the Z, the worst offender being the Apollo. The only one worth its weight in aluminum is T0M's design, as Bernie said, so that's the one to get if you really have to have the look. Most of us seem to agree they are a better fit on many other cars and do have their place...just not on the VQ30DETT.
